Reliable Storage Containers for your Bleach Application:
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation not only destroys light sensitive chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), it also has the potential to significantly degrade the structural integrity of the storage tank or IBC containing the light sensitive material. The performance of a tank is dependent not only upon the materials used, but also on the manufacturing process.
Based on studies conducted in conjunction with the University of Nebraska and resin producers, Snyder Industries, Inc. has determined the best current
polyethylene resins available for the storage of Sodium Hypochlorite.
Whether you are a manufacturer, distributor or end-user of bleach, the Snyder Bleach Protection System will keep your company’s investment and profits safe, preserving and even extending the useful life of your bleach.
Snyder Industries developed a HDLPE resin specifically designed for the containment of bleach or sodium hypochlorite. This resin is available for both the bulk storage and transportation of bleach products. Vertical, horizontal or double wall tanks available in a wide variety of sizes and designs up to 15,000 gallons. Portable D.O.T.- approved IBCs are available in a variety of options up to 550 gallons. The proprietary resin is formulated with a special opaque pigment that prevents UV rays from attacking the bleach inside.
In the past most poly processing tank and IBC manufacturers have promoted either black pigmented or natural translucent polyethylene for sodium hypochlorite applications. While a black tank can block UV rays it also absorbs sunlight which can heat the tank to a level that harms the tank and bleach within. The Snyder bleach protection system reflects light away from the container, protecting the bleach within from both UV rays and heat damage. Snyder’s HDLPE #880059, opaque white resin, was specifically designed for storing NaOCL. #880059’s opacity prevents UV rays from attacking the sodium hypochlorite while its white color reflects the
Sunlight. Reducing exposure to these decomposition catalysts means longer shelf life for your NaOCL. Whether you are in the water treatment, pulp and paper, or chemical processing industry, the .942 density HDLPE can provide a cost effective alternative for storing Sodium Hypochlorite.
Another development by Snyder Industries is the SUMO™ (Snyder Unitized Molded Outlet). This unique integrally molded-in full drain outlet connection utilizes an encapsulated Titanium ring located at the bottom knuckle radius of the tank to ensure maximum liquid drainage from vertical single wall bulk storage tanks. The SUMO drain connection allows for the attachment of 2, 3, 4 or 6 inch ANSI pipe sizes (depending on tank size and diameter) on tanks 2000 gallons and larger. The benefit of the SUMO drain connection is that it allows for easy periodic clean out of your bleach tank which can extend the life of your tank. That means you will save even more money since your tank will last longer.
